ABOUT SSI
SCUBA SCHOOLS INTERNATIONAL GREW OUT OF THE PASSION OF A FEW AVID DIVERS WHO WERE INTENT ON MAKING IT POSSIBLE FOR ANYONE TO LEARN HOW TO SCUBA DIVE.
For more than 40 years, SSI has provided training, scuba diving certification, and educational resources for divers, dive instructors, dive centers and resorts around the world. Started in 1970, SSI has expanded to include more than 30 Service Centers, is represented in more than 110 countries with over 2.500 International locations, and has materials printed in more than 30 languages.
SSI is clearly the name to trust in the diving world, and we attribute that success to our uncompromising standards and focused methodology.
OUR TRAINING PHILOSOPHY
Each of our Training Programs is based on our Diver Diamond Methodology, which focuses on the proper knowledge, skills, equipment, and experience required in becoming a highly qualified diver.
Knowledge
Knowledge replaces fears and fantasies with correct information. The SSI Home Study Total Teaching System (Full color Manual, DVD and Study Guide) will teach you certain safety rules and your instructor will relate that information in a “land value” to “water value” format with an interactive classroom presentation.
Skills
There are only two ways that people learn — either shock or repetition. Shock is not a good way to learn anything, especially diving. SSI’s signature water training method is “Comfort though Repetition.” It is important to take the time to develop the skills necessary for you to become a safe and comfortable diver.
Equipment
The safest way for anyone to become a diver is in their own high-quality, personally fitted Total Diving System. Being familiar with your equipment increases your ability and confidence using life support equipment. During your training, you will learn several equipment configurations which will enable you to make the best possible choice for your own Total Diving System.
Experience
While training develops knowledge and skills, the only way to get experience is to go diving. This is why SSI encourages more open water dives during training instead of just the minimum number of dives as required by industry standards. The more you dive, the more you will enjoy the sport. So get out there, explore new worlds, meet new friends and see why diving with SSI stands for “The Ultimate Dive Experience”!
Your learning experience will come alive with personalized instruction that puts your skills to use in reality-based training scenarios. Our unique approach to dive training is known as:
Comfort through Repetition
By practicing each skill you’ve learned throughout each level of your training, your actions become conditioned responses – second nature! SSI training ensures you retain what you’ve already learned, while you continue to learn more.
The result: Learn to Dive is fun and you will get what you deserve: ‘The Ultimate Dive Experience’!
TOTAL TEACHING SYSTEM
The SSI Training Materials and Online Training program are designed so that you can learn the academics at your own pace when it is convenient for you. You can complete the academics online when you sign up for SSI’s Online Training program, and then attend review sessions at your favorite SSI Dive Center.
Supported by your choice of Interactive Online Training with Full HD Videos, modern Graphics and Animations as well as altering Review Questions to support learning or the Digital Kit Offline on your Tablet or Smart Phone or also printed materials in addition, you can learn the academics at your own pace. All of these items are a part of SSI’s total teaching system, which captivates students young and old, and makes instructing fun and multi-faceted. You choose the way that you are most comfortable learning. Whether it’s in the classroom, online or in the comfort of your own home – it’s up to you.
